The first British "flame powered" (jet) fighter to enter service was the Gloster Meteor. Though airworthy by 1944, delays prevented it from seeing combat during the war. It is included as a "what if" airplane.
TACTICS: Unlike the German jet fighters, your top speed is only marginally superior to that of late model propeller-driven aircraft of 1945. But the Meteor retains very good maneuverability and could turn circles around an Me262 or He162. You should use your high top speed to pursue (or occasionally escape from) enemy fighters on the mission map, but once engaged in combat use your maneuvering capability in a classic tight-turning dogfight. The Meteor flies a lot like a faster Hawker Tempest.
STRENGTHS: Good turning performance. Fast, though slower than German jets. Structurally sound, with heavy firepower.
WEAKNESSES: Like all jets of the day, acceleration is less than that of contemporary propeller-driven fighters. Rate of roll is poor.
